JKA 25 Years: 2014
Utilizing historic photos and the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic Preservation, JKA started the design of the rehabilitation of the 1924 Mark Twain Hotel just south of Hollywood Boulevard in 2014. JKA’s design preserves the appearance, use, configuration and spirit of the Spanish Colonial revival hotel while bringing the interior and facade up to contemporary building code and hotel design standards. Completed in 2016, the renovated hotel includes all new building systems, 62 modernized hotel rooms, ADA improvements, a lobby, office, and laundry, dining and vending areas. The iconic rooftop neon sign was also refurbished, providing historic night time interest and continuity of identity within an evolving Hollywood scene.
