APA | LA Urban Design Award of Excellence

We are proud to announce that the City of Signal Hill and JKA won the APA | LA  Urban Design Award of Excellence for our work on the Signal Hill Civic Center Master Plan! 

Throughout various meetings with City Staff, decision-makers, stakeholders, and the community, JKA developed a final concept that located an amphitheater to realize view of the harbor, weave new accessible pathways across the park, reimagined the roadway fronting City Hall as a flexible event street, and proposed a new community center serving all ages. Approved by the City Council in August 2024, the Civic Center Master Plan now guides the amphitheater implementation while establishing a 10-year blueprint of next steps that realize the Civic Center as the place to gather and celebrate Signal Hill everyday civic life.
