JKA 25 Years: 2007

In 2007, JKA designed a combined restaurant, commercial kitchen, and teaching facility for the Hollywood Farmer’s Market. The objective was to expand the footprint of the adjoining Sunday market to seven days a week and offer farm-to-table food service, education, training, and culinary experiences for and to the surrounding community.

The Farmer’s Kitchen invited customers to linger and explore a variety of farm-fresh products. Food was prepared on site in a demonstration kitchen with local produce and made available for purchase.

JKA assisted in site selection, programming, grant writing, and solving the challenges of space planning and technical design within a small and irregularly shaped space set on the backside of a large mixed-use project. The design optimizes equipment placement and functionality into an efficient workspace while providing an inviting retail and dining area that evokes a farm stand feeling.
