AIA Letter of Support to Invest in LACP Budget
To address serious budget shortfalls, the Los Angeles' mayor has proposed, and the City Council is considering, cutting up to 187 positions from Los Angeles City Planning (LACP). All of us who work on projects in LA, especially critically needed housing and mixed-use projects, know that City Planning staff have a tough job keeping up with the workflow, Community Plan Updates, project approvals, and the innovative new Zoning Code are sometimes years behind schedule. Now, AIA|LA has weighed in on this issue. They wisely note that, "reducing LACP's budget...will just further harm the City’s financial health and dampen economic development opportunities region-wide." JKA supports AIA's letter and encourages all to contact your representatives and the Mayor and support LACP's vital work!
