JKA 25 Years: 2017

In 2017 John Kaliski and Takako Tajima worked with the Hancock Park Garden Club to develop an illustrated guide for front yard landscapes in Los Angeles’ older neighborhoods. "Your Next Front Yard” provides guidelines for layout, plant materials, and prototypical designs that suggest “design principles that allow for both continuity of neighborhood landscape settings and garden design for respectful, even needed change.” In this last regard, water conservation, use of native plants, and acknowledgement of diverse approaches to front yard design shape an approach that emphasizes conservation and individual expression.
