Laguna Beach Single-Family and Two-Family Residential Objective Design Standards

As a subconsultant to De Novo Planning Group’s efforts for the Laguna Beach Comprehensive Zoning Code Update, JKA developed the City’s Single-Family and Two-Family Residential Objective Design Standards. Emphasis on ensuring Laguna Beach’s architectural eclecticism was preserved by creating a “Form Group Style Guide,” that allows design flexibility while still assuring measurable design standards. Adopted in August 2026, the Objective Design Standards ensure a streamlined and consistent review and approval process by City staff in single-family zones. JKA is beginning to prepare the Multi-Family and Mixed-Use standards as the next step in the Zoning Code Update.
