5900 Hollywood Boulevard Self-Storage

The developer of a new self-storage facility in Hollywood retained Urban Studio to develop a corner treatment and signage program to improve the image of the building.

The design utilizes a light-weight truss structure clad in structural acrylic to resolve the corner site geometry. Channel letters proclaiming “Hollywood Boulevard Self-Storage” and neon stick-figures depicting self-storage patrons respectively populate the bottom and Hollywood Boulevard edges of the new building wall. In conjunction with with new signage valence boxes, smaller versions of the new corner element are utilized as illuminated awnings above Hollywood Boulevard storefront niches, extending the vocabulary and identity of the new building elements to the major boulevard frontage.
