18220 Colima Road Retail Center

JKA was asked by the client to design a 7,100 square foot, one story retail center in Rowland Heights consisting of one larger retail space and three smaller ones.

The existing site was formerly a bank and JKA had to assess certain challenges such as relocating a transformer that served the neighboring off-site buildings.

The client’s vision was to create a taller than average retail space that would catch the eye of pedestrians and cars passing by. JKA implemented metal paneling to the building to increase the visual height, for a total building height of 34 feet. The black split face CMU contrasts the sleek look of the aluminum panels in order to differentiate it from the neighboring commercial buildings
