1619 Rockwood Street Apartments

Utilizing Los Angeles' small lot subdivision ordinance, this project rehabilitates an existing fourplex rental apartment building into ownership units. The project is located in the Westlake area of Los Angeles, reconfigures 3,500 square feet of building area, and includes a new carport and drought-tolerant landscape.

The façade and exterior of the turn-of-the-century building were preserved, while the interior underwent limited demolition and reconfiguration of space.

To harmonize with the neighborhood and evoke a turn- of-the-century character, vintage colors were used on the facades, and blossoming, water-resistant ground coverings and shrubs were featured in a gated entry garden.
